NEW PROUT 70 OWNER COMMENTS The boat sails very well for a big cat. I have had her up to about 17 knots but and sure with the right conditions she could break 20, remember my boat is heavier than the current models... Under power I have punched her to 13.5 knots but imagine she could do 14, I tend to motor around at 2000 rpm and get about 9 knots which is just fine.She sails up to about 40 to 45 degrees off the wind... in fact she sails better to windward than I would have expected. Off the wind, look out she really comes into her own then. At anchor it's a dream and having sailed her about 250 miles from Thailand and I can honestly say, it's a very nice way to travel. Celebrity Yachts are building this Prout model and other new sailing and PowerCat models in the Far East and they can build to CE, ABS or Lloyds specs for up to 30% less than similar quality European builders. Present sailing catamaran models under construction or planned to start soon are the P-45, P-50, P-55, P-60, P-63, P-69, P-72, P-77, P-80, P-90 and P-100. In the PowerCat lineup they have the G-55, G-60, G-72 TrawlerCats. Our SLY PowerCat series is designed for higher speeds.
